MISSION

At One Shared Spirit INC. we believe in every person’s ability to recover and live a meaningful, healthy life. Everyday we are dedicated to advancing recovery, working as a team, and being there for every person who has been impacted by addiction.

Our recovery community's mission is to incorporate the knowledge and lived experience of those with substance use history into harm-reduction focused, holistic based recovery groups. We strive to provide a safe, welcoming, and healing space for those who are seeking and are in recovery. We offer a program that allows choices based on self-determination to accomplish individual wellness goals. We believe every person deserves to be safe, respected, and offered fair and equitable opportunities in life without stigma, prejudice, exclusion, isolation, disparity or dehumanization. Our objective is to provide advocacy, education, training, cross-cultural education, community involvement, and peer support services for the people of Barnstable County.

Heart & Hands
WHAT WE'RE DOING

One Shared Spirit INC. is advancing recovery in Barnstable County, Massachusetts by offering free services and support that revolves around the four major dimensions of life in recovery- health, home, purpose, and community- and follows the ten guiding principles of recovery. Our entire approach to recovery is holistic focused- encompassing the mind, body, spirit and community into our daily practices and addressing everyone’s life as a whole. We honor all paths to recovery and embrace the principles, traditions, and beliefs of all cultures to meet each individual’s distinctive needs. All of our staff and volunteers are trauma-informed to promote a safe, trusting, self-empowering, and collaborative environment. We are a peer-run center with group-peer-support (GPS) certified staff, so we provide mutual support as well as mutual aid to those who come to us. Within our daily groups and individual meetings, we address each person’s individual’s wellness goals, provide resources to them, and encourage independence by exercising choice on what services/support they want to aid them on their own recovery journey. In these groups, individual meetings, and any interactions we have with the community, we promote hope as well as respect for every person. We believe in everyone’s ability to recover and encourage everyone we meet to live their best lives while expressing their strengths, needs, wants, and desires.
